Notice to International Applicants

ACADEMIC REGISTRAR’S DEPARTMENT - ADMISSIONS PROCESS
  1. Get pay-in slips from  Stanbic or DFCU bank at the main campus  Makerere University
  2. After paying the Application Fee of  Us $ 75, take the bankslip to the main building (accounts office) for verification.   Use the current rate of the dollar for the bank for those paying in Uganda shillings.
  3. On presentation of the Application  Fee bankslip,  pick the Application Form from Room 316, Level 3, Senate Building.
  4. Applicants with Academic Documents prescribed in other languages other than English should be submitted to the Institute of Languages, Makerere University for translation into English.
  5. Applicants who have obtained qualifications elsewhere other than Uganda and Tanzania, should take their Academic Documents to Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) in Ntinda.
  6. Diplomas should be taken to (NCHE) National Council of Higher Education located within Kyambogo University, for purposes of awarding institutional accreditation.
  7. Applicants using Diploma documents to apply for Degree courses without A’LEVEL  MUST  be having training of at least 2 years.
  8. Completed  forms should be returned to Level 3, Senate  Building, Room 316, and the following documents MUST be attached to the application form.:
    • Duplicate Pay in slip from the Bank.
    • One Passport  size photograph of the applicants’ current likeness.
    • Photocopies of Secondary School Certificates (eg. O’level and A’level) or the equivalent.
    • Diploma/Degree holder applicants MUST, attach certified photocopies of their academic transcripts, issued by the awarding Institutions.
  9. The Closing date for receiving  application forms is 30th April, 2014

Celebrating the University of East Africa (UEA) 50th Anniversary and the life of UEA's only Chancellor Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere.

On Saturday 29th June 2013, Makerere University will be celebrating the University of East Africa (UEA) 50th Anniversary and the life of UEA's only Chancellor Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere. The keynote speaker at this celebration will be Professor Ngugi Wa Thiong'oa renown alumnus of Makerere University. H.E Yoweri K. Museveni is expected to be the Chief Guest and launch the Nyerere book: "Womens Freedom: Women are Eagles, not Chickens". This book was written by Julius Nyerere when he was an undergraduate student at Makerere College in 1944.
